Sleep is Often the First to Go - But it doesn't have to!
She told me she felt like she was scared to go to bed.
Not all at once - but slowly.
Night after night.
Wake-up after wake-up.
Piece by piece.
“I don’t even recognize myself anymore,” she whispered.
“I used to fall asleep the second my head hit the pillow. Now I’m exhausted but my body is electric… like I’m running a marathon in the middle of the night.”
She would go to bed tired…
and wake up every night at 1 AM.
Then 2 AM.
Then 3 AM.
The hours stretched. The clock glowed red. Her heart raced. Her thoughts spiraled.
And in the morning, she pulled herself out of bed - a woman alive in body, but gone in spirit.
Maybe her story sounds like yours.
Maybe you’re tired of counting hours instead of sleeping through them.
Maybe you’re tired of waking up already defeated.
Maybe you’re tired of a body you don’t understand anymore.
So let’s say it plainly - because someone needs to:
YOU ARE NOT LAZY.
YOU ARE NOT CRAZY.
YOU ARE NOT BROKEN.
What you are… is in perimenopause.
And your body is calling out for help.
💜 What’s Really Happening Inside Your Body
During perimenopause, sleep is usually one of the first things to fall apart - and it’s not an accident.
It’s biology.
Your hormones are shifting, and suddenly:
Progesterone drops - the calming, soothing hormone that once helped you drift peacefully to sleep
Estrogen fluctuates - affecting serotonin and mood stability
Cortisol spikes at night - waking you up with racing thoughts or anxiety
Melatonin decreases - making it harder to fall and stay asleep
Blood sugar becomes unstable - waking the brain as if there’s an emergency
The nervous system gets stuck in survival mode - wired instead of rested
So while the world tells you to:
“Just go to bed earlier,”
“Stop stressing,”
“Take a bath,”
“Try lavender…”
Your body is whispering something deeper:
“I’m overwhelmed. I need support. Please slow down. Please listen.”
🌿 The Cost of Sleep Loss in Midlife
When sleep goes… everything goes.
It’s not just fatigue.
It’s emotional fragility.
It’s brain fog that makes you feel like you’re losing your mind.
It’s weight gain no diet can explain.
It’s anxiety out of nowhere.
It’s tears over nothing.
It’s feeling disconnected from the people you love.
It’s the ache of wondering, “Is this my new normal?”
And the most heartbreaking part?
Many women suffer silently because they believe it’s weakness to ask for help.
✨ The Turning Point
The woman I told you about earlier - the one who felt like she was scared to go to bed - eventually asked herself a powerful question:
“What if my body isn’t failing me?
What if it’s protecting me, asking for care instead of constant survival?”
And that question changed everything.
When she stopped blaming herself
When she stopped fighting her body
When she stopped pretending she was fine…
She finally began to heal.
Not because she tried harder,
but because she finally let herself be supported.
💜 You Don’t Have to Fight Alone
If you are in the thick of this - the waking nights, the trembling exhaustion, the fog, the fear - I want you to hear me:
There is nothing wrong with you.
Your body is not broken.
You are not failing.
You are in transition - and transitions require guidance, nourishment, nervous system support, and truth!
This season can be the doorway to a stronger, wiser, more grounded version of you.
But you don’t have to walk through that door alone.
🌸 A Personal Invitation
I help women rebuild what perimenopause has stolen - sleep, energy, clarity, confidence, peace.
Not with quick fixes.
Not with shame.
Not with pressure to push harder.
But with functional support, nervous system regulation, hormone balance, emotional support, faith, and real strategies that restore rather than deplete.
If your heart whispered “yes” while reading this…
If you are tired of surviving and ready to feel like yourself again…
I’d love to walk beside you.
